Preface Preface

This text is intended for a Math for Liberal Arts course that highlights connections between mathematics and the society in which we live and is intended for liberal arts majors. Topics include set theory and logic, mathematical modeling, probability and statistical methods, and consumer mathematics.

Content from David Lippman's Math in Society (Open Textbook Store), Jay Abramson's College Algebra: 5.8 Modeling Using Variation (Open Stax), and Karen Walter's "The Normal Distribution" (CK-12 Foundation) have been remixed and slightly modified to align with the curriculum at Red Rocks Community College. Details can be found in the Attributions page.

The exercises at the end of each chapter are intended to supplement webwork problems.

We welcome comments, corrections, or suggestions.
